Responsible Consumption

One of the club's key initiatives is to promote responsible water consumption, which conserves a precious resource and contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) we are all working towards. To support this, the club provide steel bottles to participants of any Faculty Development Program (FDP), workshops, or events lasting more than two days.

By implementing this practice, we are not just making a significant contribution towards meeting Goals 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), 13 (Climate Action), 14 (Life Below Water), and 15 (Life on Land) of the seventeen SDGs, but also making a tangible impact on the environment. Each step we take in this direction is a step closer to a more sustainable future.

The club conducted three events during November and December 2024: an interdepartmental plenary session on ‘Our Stand for Gender Equality’ to spread mass awareness about Gender Equality, Pradyut’ 24 to provide a platform to students to showcase their innovative solutions aligned with the 17 SDGs, and a guest lecture on Sustainable Lifestyle by Mr Nipun Kaushik emphasising the need for practical strategies to balance environmental, social and economic needs.

OUR STAND for GENDER EQUALITY (SDG: Goal 5)

VE Cell AKGEC, as a proud partner and stakeholder of the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI), organized an interdepartmental plenary session on ‘OUR STAND for GENDER EQUALITY’, in two rounds-

Preliminary Round (Intra-departmental)- This screening round was conducted in every department, in which participants presented their views on the effective implementation of SDG-5, i.e., “Gender Equality,” under the guidance of UNAI coordinators. The objective was mass awareness. The top two teams per department were expected to be nominated for the final round.
Final Round (Inter-departmental)- This final round was conducted on 9th December 2024 in ME Conference Hall, in the presence of UNAI faculty coordinators and VE Cell members, in which 6 teams from the departments of CSE, ECE, EN, IT and MCA presented their views, followed by an open house Q/A round.

SDG-5 aims for Gender Equality, which is a fundamental human right and is considered a necessary foundation for a peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable world. The presentations mainly included following three- 1) root causes behind the issue 2) currently available systems/policies to address the issue (immediate but temporary solutions) and 3) holistic solutions addressing root causes (all-encompassing and sustainable). The winners are-

First Prize-Abhishek Jain & Akshat Vishal (IT Department)
Second Prize- Shreya Vidyarthi & Kartik Rawat (ECE Department)
Third Prize- Harsh Sharma & Priya Sharma (CSE Department)
