A five day online Faculty Development Programme (FDP) was organized by Department of Computer Science and Engineering from 10-14 August 2020 on “Blockchain and its Applications” at Ajay Kumar Garg Engineering College, Ghaziabad. The FDP was conducted as an initiative to enrich the knowledge of faculty members through interaction with eminent personalities and resource persons from various academic institutions.
Total 182 participants from across India like NCR, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, West Bengal etc. and Foreign Participants from Bangladesh, Nigeria etc. attended the FDP and got benefited. Dr. Sunita Yadav, HoD CSE marked the formal onset of the FDP by welcoming the resource person Dr. Bhavana Rudra.
Dr. Bhavana Rudra from Department of Information Technology, National Institute of Technology (NIT) Karnataka enlightened the participants on Current Research Trends in Blockchain Technology and its applications. She focused on the importance of this technology in multiple industries including Financial Services, Healthcare, Government, Travel and Hospitality. On the second day she focused on the security analysis of Blockchain and the basics of cryptography.
On the third day Dr. Yaduvir Singh discussed the types of Blockchain and the blockchain platforms. He also discussed about the architecture and the scope of the Blockchain.
During the fourth and the fifth day Dr. P. Raghu Vamsi from Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Jaypee Institute of Information Technology (JIIT), NOIDA discussed the concept of Blockchain for IOT, the emerging opportunities in blockchain and the research trends. He also focused on the implementation of blockchain in the healthcare industry. Hands-on session was conducted to explore the depth of knowledge in Blockchain and its Applications.
For all the sessions of the FDP, feedback from the participants was collected. E-certificates were mailed to the participants. Dr.Sunita Yadav concluded the FDP by conveying her heartiest regards to the resource persons and thanks to all the participants. Overall this FDP was beneficial and knowledgeable experience for all the participants to learn about scope and significance of Blockchain and its applications. Besides this the participants gained knowledge about real-time applications including digital identity, smart contracts, digital voting, and IoT applications.
